GHB and Narcolepsy
GHB shows great promise for treating narcolepsy. Perhaps soon I will make enough headway into the documentation to report intelligently on this; all I can say now is that things look very good. The FDA has given Orphan Medical Corporation approval to begin testing "sodium oxybate" on narcoleptics - which means, if nothing else, that their press releases no longer refer to GHB as instantly fatal.
What I have to offer now is a collection of narcolepsy-related links that discuss GHB. Please do not talk to these people about non-medical uses of GHB. Narcoleptics need GHB; recreational users don't. It's up to that latter group to behave itself well enough that they don't ruin things.
Narcolepsy & Sleep Disorders Center - Featuring the article "Dumb on Drugs: GHB and the FDA." I like their explanation that a woman with narcolepsy might be raped because she didn't take GHB.
Narcolepsy Internet - A wide-ranging narcolepsy resource.
