Different forms of A obtusifolia
Seedlings and seeds of A obtusifolia
Interesting specimen, seed obtained as A complanata, though appears much more like broad phyllode form of A obtusifolia. Possible hybrid or unknown variety. Note nectar droplet appearing from extra-floral nectary near base of phyllode, circled in white.
Here's a few photo's from Mt Buffallo, at the time of this visit many of the plants appeared to be suffering or recovering from a serious gall infestation, so many of the photo's show this, some, such as in the first photo, didn't make it.
Severe gall attack seen here has killed this specimen.
Another gall infected plant, small but surviving

Galls are common on many Acacias, though may kill the plant and severe infestation might suggest environmental factors or stresses may contribute to the overall health of the plants. I didn't personally visit on this occasion, thanks to some friends for the photo's and information. Hopefully the these rare Acacias are not in too great a danger, they are already considered endangered and considering the general degradation of the indigenous flora over the last two hundred years it's amazing they've survived so far.
Old, large, but unfortunately dead A. phlebophylla.
