ACACIA SIMPLEX (=Simplicifolia)

habit: small hardwood tree up to 12m, commonly just behind the beach or near coastal areas.

foliage: broad phyllodes, up to 10 cm long with paralell veins running the length of the phyllodes.

flowers: small yellow (ball?) flowers.

pods: up to 12 cm long with between 8 - 16 seeds, constricted between seeds.

seeds:

distribution: New Caledonia, Fiji and other islands in Malesia, not recorded from the Australian mainland.

notes: Not indigenous to Australian mainland, is however related and classified as a member of sub-genus Phyllodineae, possibly related to a. complanata and a. confusa from the Phillipines. (references: 19)
