Alexander T. Shulgin, Ph.D., is a chemist and psychopharmacology consultant in Lafayette, CA., and is, along with his wife Ann, author of the authoritative work on psychedelic phenethylamines, PIHKAL (Phenethylamines I Have Known and Loved). For more than three decades, he has carried out pioneering clinical studies of psychedelic phenethylamine and tryptamine derivatives, and created and developed the largest single data base on the human psychopharmacology of substituted phenethylamines.
