MEDICAL ALERT

A form of tattoo called "BLUE STAR" is being sold to school children.  It is
a small piece of paper containing a blue star.  They are the size of a pencil
eraser and each star is soaked with L.S.D.

The drug is absorbed through the skin simply by HANDLING THE PAPER.

There are also brightly colored paper tattoos resembling postage stamps that
have the picture of one of the following:
Superman                 Mickey Mouse              Clowns
Disney Characters     Bart Simpson                Butterflies

Each is wrapped in foil.

This is a new way of selling acid by appealing to young children.  These are
laced with DRUGS.

If your child gets any of the above, do not handle them.  These are known to
react quickly and some are laced with strychnine.

Symptoms:  Hallucinations, severe vomiting, uncontrolled laughter, mood
changes, change in body temperature.

Please feel free to reproduce this article and distrubute it within your
community and work place.  Get the work out about this danger to our
children.

My God, Roger, have you been able to verify the authenticity of this message?

I have two boys, 9 and 3, and this scares the hell out of me. Thanks for
spreading the word. I hope  it isn't true, but I will talk to the boys about
it anyway, just in case.

I have been hearing this story under many different names for many years--but
when the police department is contacted in the area of concern it never seems
to have any basis.  I think that Alice is right and it is another Urban
legend, perhaps we should consult with Dr. Jan Brunvand who is the authority
on such stories.

I just an article about how the internet is proving a boon to many urban
myths and giving them a longer and more powerful life.  I have heard this
particular story many times in the last 15 years.

The book entitled "The choking Doberman" contains the title story and it
involves a veterinarian to boot.  The story "The Mexican Pet" is one which I
personally heard related to me regarding one of my practice partners and I
KNOW it wasn't true.  These things are like the ringing of a bell....you
can't stop the sound after the clapper has struck.

Ack; just to show you how obsessive I am, when I saw the title of this posst,
I thought it had to do with Jane Ott's classification of Arabian horses (Her
"Blue Arabian Horse Catalog" defines a "Blue Star Arabian" as one with no
known trace of Muni'qui blood).
  I'd say I need a vacation, but I usually spend them at Arab shows....
